I love outdoor events and encourage friends and clients and whomever is interested to participate
– and some events are free!
Get Out & Play
Sometimes I plan walks and/or hikes in Cottage Grove, Woodbury or Afton. Below are examples of events. Check out my MeetUp group Get Out & Play to see what’s currently scheduled. Hope to see you at these events!
GET OUT & PLAY EVENTS:
Sometimes I lead walks or hikes through my Facebook page: Annie Elmer, Personal Trainer. Please like the page so you can hear about the events.
Hamlet Park Walk
For walks scheduled at this park, sometimes we meet at Annie’s and walk to the park or meet at Hamlet Park and then walk around the trail at the park. Afterward we cool down and stretch. This walk is designed for beginners to advanced walkers. The total distance is approximately 2-4 miles (depending on starting location) with one small hill.
Woodridge Park Walk
For walks scheduled at Woodridge Park, we start there and walk up to Cottage Grove Ravine Park if you’re up for the full challenge! This walk is designed for beginners to advanced walkers. It will last from 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on how far you want to walk. We walk around the pond and take 5 minutes to stretch. Walkers up for a bigger challenge can walk up 90th Street to the CG Ravine Park. If you’re not up for that much of a walk, you can take another loop around the pond or go up 90th Street until you’re almost tired and turn back. The goal is to have walkers with different energy levels have an opportunity to get outdoors, be active and meet others with similar interests.
Afton State Park Hike
Hikes at Afton State Park are on very hilly terrain. The pace is strenuous (approximately 3 miles per hour). You ought to be in good physical condition to handle these hikes. The hills are a great way to challenge your heart rate, so feel free to bring your heart rate monitor.
Colby Lake Walk
We’ll meet at the picnic shelter at Edgewater Park and walk around the lake (approximately 45 minute walk), and if we’re up for more, at the half-way point, we can cross over to the Colby Lake Park trail. Another option is to continue under Valley Creek Road and to the trail system around that neighborhood and lake. This is a mostly flat trail. This walk can be designed for beginners.
